Do you need Legal Advice?

Ignoring Legal Issues – Will Not Make Them Go Away.

Some people ignore their legal issue because they think to themselves that it might be too expensive for them to hire a Lawyer, and in some situation it can be true.
But remember: Ignoring the legal issue – will not make it go away.

The following steps highlight some practical steps that a person can take to help themselves without costing anything. Here are 3 strategies:

  • If somebody owes you money – send them a “Letter of Demand”. You do not necessarily need a Lawyer for this and there are tons of free guides on the internet. After the Letter of Demand, you can sue them in the Small Claims Court (by yourself without the need for an Attorney) and provided that its less than R20 000.

  • If you need legal advice about your situation, you can also contact your nearest Legal Aid Clinic. They offer free legal advice to members of the public. To find your nearest Legal Aid Clinic, simply search on Google and book an appointment.

  • If you have a Labour or Divorce issue, you can also approach your nearest CCMA or Magistrates Court – where a Clerk from the Front Desk will be able to guide you on filling in the correct forms and the procedure that needs to be followed.
Key takeway: if you bury your head in the sand – the problem will not go away by itself and you will feel even worse. You have to take action! These practical steps do not cost any money.
